Contemporary Indian crafts

Built Editions presents traditional Indian craftsmanship through a contemporary lens. Each of its products is designed and made through engagement with artisanal communities with the aspiration of preserving Indian crafts in the modern world.

The products are (partly) hand made and each item can show slight variations or differentiations in finish or form. Built Editions embraces these characteristics as they show the handmade quality and the signature of the maker. The products are either made-to-order or produced in small series to avoid overproduction.

Designed by architects

Built Editions is a brand established by architecture and design studio Site Practice, based in Mumbai and Amsterdam.  Born out of an interest in materials and processes of making, the collection expands on the studio's experiences as architects and long-standing collaborations with craftspeople throughout India.

Each design object or piece of furniture uses locally sourced or upcycled materials and particularly celebrates the marks of the makers, the natural character of the materials and the patinas that arise over time.
